City Beach Project
May 5, 2016
WA Limestone was contracted by the Town of Cambridge to complete groyne repair works at City Beach in April 2016.
The groyne is an important coastal structure which assists in collecting additional sand deposits onto City Beach, and is frequently utilised by swimmers, surfers and fishermen. Approximately 2,000 tonnes of core and armour rock were imported onto the beach, for placement into the existing groyne. Rock within the existing groyne was also reused where possible. The client placed a big importance on limiting rock spillage onto the beach, as well as constructing a strong structure that will withstand heavy seas, and WA Limestone exceeded expectations in both areas.
The job was completed under three weeks, well ahead of the construction programme for the contract. Many thanks to Steve Chambers (Surveyor), Joon Kang (Supervisor), Klemm Dykes (Excavator Operator) and Paul Onoforo (Spotter) for a job well done!
